Special Education Renewal

Professional Development for Archdiocese of Miami Teachers to Complete 20 Hours in Special Education

CatholicEd4All offers three courses to meet the 20-hour state requirement in special education. The Archdiocese of Miami is accepting these two professional developments as fulfillment for the state of Florida’s one semester (20 hour) requirement in teaching students with disabilities.

Recertification Courses

The Florida Department of Education requires any teacher in the state of Florida, wishing to renew his/her teacher certification to complete at least one semester hour in teaching students with disabilities. Three courses are offered to meet the 20-hour state requirement and will consist of contact hours and independent learning hours.

- Course I: Instructional Strategies for Students with Behavioral Needs and Autism (10 hours)

-  Course II: Instructional Strategies for Students with Learning and Attention Deficits (10 hours)

-  Course III: Instructional Strategies for Managing the Anxiety of Students with Special Needs (5 hours)

Course I is taught in the Fall and Course II is taught in the Spring. Dates are finalized with the Archdiocese of Miami Department of Schools at the beginning of each academic year and information is then sent out to the administrators at each school.

For any questions about this course or any other professional development, please contact CatholicEd4All.
